Russia 2018: Improve your style of play, Talle tells African teams

By Olamilekan FAWAS

Chairman, FCT Football Association, Musa Talle, has urged African teams at the ongoing World Cup in Russia to improve their style of football to progress in the competition.

Talle said this on Tuesday in Abuja. He said the only way African teams could stay alive in Russia was to be technically fit in all faculties of the game.

The chairman described the performance of African teams in the world cup so far as abysmal and discouraging. He added that “it is so bad for only Tunisia to have scored one goal so far among the five African teams in the competition. It was after scoring through penalty that they lost to England, it is disappointing.”

The FA chairman said the outing of African teams, especially Nigeria in Russia, was a slight on African football image.

Morocco, Egypt, Nigeria and Tunisia out the five representatives of Africa were defeated in their opening matches.

Morocco lost 1-0 to lowly rated Iran, Egypt lost 1-0 to Uruguay, Nigeria was humiliated 2-0 by Croatia, while Tunisia lost 2-1 to England on Monday, while the last African representative, Senegal play Poland on Tuesday.
