No fewer than 403 public servants benefitted from the medical outreach carried out by the Ogun government through the State Hospitals Management Board to mark the 2018 Public Service Day.
This was contained in a report by the Permanent Secretary of the Board, Dr Adesanya Ayinde, and made available to journalists on Monday in Abeokuta.
The screening tests, which included those for blood pressure, malaria parasite, blood glucose, eye, dental and HIV, were aimed at checking and improving the health status of the workforce.
Ayinde revealed that 100 per cent of those examined for dental ailments were referred for further treatment, while 23 per cent of those screened for other medical conditions were found to have elevated blood pressure that required further investigation and management.
He said while 60 percent were also referred for further eye treatment, 87 per cent of those examined for physiotherapy were referred for either overweight, under-weight or obesity management, with all those screened for HIV testing negative.
The report, he added, recommended that treatment should made affordable at a discounted rate for those referred for further treatment at designated government facilities.
He further suggested that lipid profile, physical fitness assessment including the provision of medication for complicated conditions, should be included in the scope of service
