The Speaker of Osun House of Assembly, Mr Najeem Salaam, has described the death of Apostle Moses Olaiya, popularly known as Baba Sala, as the end of an era in the Nigerian entertainment industry.
Salaam, in a condolence message signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Goke Butika, said the Late Olaiya was an enigma, who redefined comedy and brought many people to work in the entertainment industry.
He said the way and manner Baba Sala unleashed his talent from 60s was original and Nigerians in thousands would continue to remember him for bringing them therapeutic laughter and lessons of life.
Salaam expressed gratitude to the late Olaiya for putting Nigeria and Osun in particular on a good map through his incredible exploits as a comedian of international repute.
“We owe Baba Sala a debt of gratitude, for he used his talent to make people happy and learn through his comedy.
“His kind of comedy exploit brought our country, particularly, our state on a good map in the entertainment universe.”
The speaker expressed the condolences of the state parliament for the demise of Baba Sala, to the immediate family of the deceased, Gov. Rauf Aregbesola of Osun, Oba Adekunle Aromolaran of Ijeshaland, describing the deceased as a good man, who brought glad tidings to the world.
