DPR urges marketers to disregard rumour of fuel price review

By Thompson ABISOLA

The Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) in Gusau, Zamfara, has urged petroleum marketers in the state to disregard rumours that the Federal Government will review fuel price.

The Operations Controller in charge of Gusau DPR field office, Alhaji Ango Haruna, made the call when he led a routine surveillance patrol to filling stations in Gusau on Wednesday.

Haruna said that all the rumours regarding the increase or decrease of fuel price by the Federal Government were false.

“You know the DPR responsibilities are not to fix price of fuel but we enforce, and as I am speaking with you we don’t have any information on fuel price review from the government.

“So, I want to urge the public to ignore such information as they are baseless. It is the handiwork of mischief makers who want to make our people to embark on panic buying or encourage marketers to be  hoarding fuel which could create artificial scarcity of the commodity,’’ he said.

He commended the petroleum marketers in the state for adhering to the rules and regulations of the Federal Government as regard official pump price.

“We are satisfied with the marketers in the state, because majority of the filling stations visited were complying with the rules of marketing of the commodity.
