Liberalise economy to attract FDI, architect urges FG

By Elizabeth ADENUGA

An architect, Mr Samson Akinyosoye, on Tuesday called on the Federal Government to create conducive business environment and liberalise all sectors of the economy to attract more Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) into the country.

Akinyosoye, who is Executive Secretary, Nigeria Institute of Architects (NIA), Lagos Chapter, made the call while speaking  in Lagos.

He also identified policy inconsistency as a major hindrance to FDI into Nigeria.

“All the government needs do is to make the country business conducive for foreign investors to bring in more money for investment.

“In Dubai, an enabling environment is created to encourage all to bring in money for investment,” he said.

Akinyosoye noted that Nigeria could adopt the same approach, having achieved reasonable peace and security for businesses to thrive.

He urged the government not to relent in its fight against corruption and ensure stable electricity, transportation network and relax visa regime, among others.

Akinyosoye also urged government to simplify the screening process of FDI to allow foreign investors to bring in investments without bottlenecks.
