FBN Lagos Amateur Golf Championships, a give back to sports — Official

First Bank says its sponsorship of the annual Lagos Amateur Open Golf Championships is a give back to help develop sports in Nigeria.

First Bank Deputy Director, Gbenga Shobo, said on Sunday in Lagos that the championship was one of the bank’s major priority sports annual event.

No fewer than 260 golfers from across the country are taking part in the 57th First Bank Lagos Amateur Open Golf Championships holding the Ikoyi Club 1968.

He said that the championships had created an enabling environment for young golfers and upcomings to constantly improve on their skills.

“We are glad to partner with the Lagos Amateur Open Golf championships running for years now, its a way of contributing our quota to the development and career of the elites.

“There has been remarkable increase in the turnout of athletes taking part in this championships in every edition and the performances is so impressive which keeps us going,” he said.

According to him, the tournament have produced professional golfers in the likes of Georgia Oboh, Oche Odoh, number 1 golfer in the country, Sunday Okpe, Samuel Amadi, Willy Gift and others.

The championships which tee-off onFriday would be concluded on Sunday with a grand finale and award ceremony.
