Police Salary: Don commends Buhari

A university teacher, Malam Bashir Yankuzu, on Tuesday commended President Muhammadu Buhari for approving a new salary structure for the Nigeria Police Force.

He said in Minna that a decent salary package for the force would ensure high and effective productivity among the officers and men.

Yankuzu, who teaches in the Department of Educational Services, Federal University of Technology, Minna, said the task left was for the government to provide modern working facilities for the police to perform optimally.

He explained that history had shown that police contingents performed credibly in foreign mission due to availability modern security facilities for them to operate.

“I am very optimistic that with improved working condition, decent accommodation and provision of state-of-the-art equipment, police personnel will provide peaceful environment for smooth implementation of all electoral process,” he said.

According to the don, an improved living condition will go a long way to boost police performance.

He said that re-positioning the police in line with global trends was long overdue and commended Buhari for being bold to approve the salary structure.

The lecturer also called on police authorities to flush out the bad ones in the service.
