The Katsina State Transport Authority (KSTA), has lauded the state government for procuring 25 new vehicles to boost mass transportation within and outside the state.

The Chairman of the authority, Alhaji Lawal Garba, gave the commendation  in Daura on Friday.
He said the newly acquired vehicles were 18, 10 and 35-seater buses for the comfort of passengers.
He said the vehicles were provided with all the necessary particulars and other traffic equipment like road triangle, fire extinguisher, spare tyres and other necessary items for effective operation.
Garba added that the drivers who would operate the vehicles had been properly trained, and licensed by the relevant authorities like FRSC and the vehicle inspection department.
He cautioned the drivers against dangerous driving and unwarranted behaviour while on motion, stressing, “we would not condone any act of carelessness or immoral behavior.
“We will not allow our drivers to take alcoholic or narcotic substances as lives of our passengers are very paramount to us.”
He said the vehicles would be shuttling within the 34 local government areas in the state and across the 36 states nationwide, adding, “we have subsidised the transport fair to attract patronage and ensure affordability by the passengers.”
The chairman also commended the state government for procuring the vehicles and called for additional 25 vehicles to make the agency strong as well as expand its area of coverage.
He described the administration of Gov. Aminu Masari, as `responsible and responsive,’ especially on how the government was repositioning the critical sectors of the state.
He said the administration had constructed and rehabilitated 1,500 kilometres of roads, built additional schools, intensified efforts on security and empowered over 35,000 youths in different vocational skills.
