Yuletide: Badagry tourist sites to feature beach football competition, others

Ar-Rakhab Beach and Holiday Resort and other tourist sites in Badagry area of Lagos State have lined-up various activities that will thrill fun seekers during the Yuletide.

The operators of the tourist sites are targeting the Christmas, Boxing Day and the New Year holidays to unveil the lined–up activities.

The tourist sites include: Ar-Rakhab Beach and Holiday Resort, Suntan Beach, Badagry Recreational Park, Seriki Abass Museum, Mobee Slave Relics and Fams Embassy hotel.

Others are: Beach Town Supermarket, Mie Mie Restaurant and Tuse Cafe Restaurant.

The official in charge of Ar-Rakhab Beach and Holiday Resort, Mr James Davis, said that the staff had decorated the beach to reflect the mood of the season.

According to Davis, we will be featuring beach soccer competition which will involve 16 clubs from within and outside Badagry.

“Interested clubs have bought forms and the competition will start on Dec. 20.

“The quarter-final will hold on Dec.23, the semi-final will take place on Dec. 27 while the final match will be on Dec.30.

“Aside this, we are planning to feature five DJs who will thrill the revellers from the dusk of Dec.24 till dawn.

“We will also have the `Jerseys’ night on Dec.26, when fun seekers will be expected to adorn the jerseys of the clubs of their choices.

“Five DJs will thrill them till dawn, and there will be question-and-answer section for club supporters.

“There will also be a dance competition.

“On Jan.1, 2019, we will have the New Year jam and five DJs will be on ground to thrill the audience,” he said.

At the Badagry Recreational Park, Mr Emmanuel Hunkalin, the Managing Director, Centre for Heritage Preservation, said the centre had planned special packages for fun seekers during the Yuletide.

According to Hunkalin, also known as Iji-Nla, there will be a cultural troupe, Fuji and Juju musicians to thrill revellers.

“On Jan. 1, there will be a special jamboree for fun seekers. It is going to be titled “Thank God we have seen today, and all kinds of fun will be provided.

“There will be a dance competition and several prizes will be given out and it will include the one for the most well-dressed family,” the incumbent coordinator of the park said.

At Seriki Abass Museum, the tour guide; Mr Anago Adeleke, said that the site had been decorated and  prepared to receive tourists, visitors and fun seekers from all over the country.

Adeleke said that the museum also had lined-up various activities for the enjoyment of fun seekers who would be visiting the museum.

He said that the museum’s management had prepared a boat cruise that would transport tourists to the “Point of no Return” called Gberefu Island.

Also, an official of Fams Embassy Hotel said that it had various activities lined up for tourists that would be visiting during Yuletide.

The official said that the hotel planned to hold a talent hunt and a pool party for their visitors during the Yuletide.
