Yuletide: C’River Police warn against use of fireworks, explosives

By Kunle SHONUGA

The Cross River Police Command has warned residents against the use of fireworks.
DSP Irene Ugbo, the State Police Spokesperson, who gave the warning in Calabar on Friday, said  that the ban on explosives was still operational.

Ugbo said the law prohibiting the sale of explosives and fireworks during the Christmas and New Year celebration was still in force.

According to her, the command warns traders and buyers not to engage in such illegal transactions in view of the security challenges in the country.

“Therefore, parents and guardians are requested to advise their children and wards to desist from such acts to forestall unpleasant consequences,’’ she said.
