Deaconess urges Nigerians to embrace tolerance for nation’s development

By Meletus EZE

The Deaconess of Alpha Life Church in Enugu State, Mrs Lauretta Abbua, has advised Nigerians to embrace tolerance and love for the political and socio-economic development of the country.

Abbua gave the advice during the Church first thanksgiving service for the New Year in Enugu on Sunday.

She asserted that people must tolerate and love one another, if Nigeria as a nation must make progress in all fields of human endeavours.

The deaconess appealed to the nation’s religious leaders to continue to preach peace, unity and tolerance, especially now that the country was preparing for general elections.

“I call on all religious leaders in Nigeria to preach peace, unity and tolerance, especially now that the country is at critical political crossroads, and with the electioneering process gaining momentum towards the forthcoming general elections,” she said.

Abbua called on political and religious leaders to always lay emphasis on issues that would unite Nigerians and shun matters that could cause disharmony among the citizenry.

She also urged parents, irrespective of their religions, to inculcate the habit of love, peace, patience and tolerance in their children.

She noted that this would go a long way to ensuring peace, unity and growth of the country.
