Buhari suspends Onnoghen, swears in Tanko Mohammed as acting CJN

President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday suspended the Chief Justice of Nigeira (CJN), Justice Walter Onnoghen, pending the completion of his trial at the Code of Conduct Tribunal.

The President announced the suspension of the CJN at a brief ceremony at the Council Chamber of the State House, Abuja.
According to the president, the suspension is as result of the ongoing trial of Onnoghen by the CCT and subsequent order of the tribunal directing him to suspend him, pending the completion of his trial.

TBI Africa quoted NAN reports that the President has since sworn in Justice Ibrahim Tanko Mohammed, from Bauchi State, as the acting CJN
