I’ll end epileptic power supply if … –Ogun JMPP candidate

By Giwa SHILE

Justice Must Prevail Party’s (JMPP) governorship candidate in Ogun State, Mr Ismail Oyefeso, says epileptic power supply will become a thing of the past if elected into office.

TBI Africa said the 34-year-old candidate, who hails from Odoogbolu Local Government Area, gave the assurance, on Thursday, in a telephone interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja.

Governorship election is slated for March 2, according to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) timetable.

Oyefeso noted that electricity is the hub of economic and technological development of any nation.

“The key to achieving a lasting solution to steady power supply in Ogun State is to develop electric power generation and supply system on a local government basis.”

He said that he would ensure that every local government area generates, transmits and distributes electricity for its immediate community consumption.

“I will decentralise power generation and allow communities to discover their potential to cater for their electricity consumption using various alternative sources to meet the electricity need of our people.

“I will allow more independent power providers and investors to come and utilise various untapped resources that could meet our electricity appetite as well as create jobs for our teeming youths.

“Unlike the light up Ogun project of the out-going governor, which concentrates on industrial locations where independent power plants introduce possible embedded facility to most industries, ours will be people-driven.

“Therefore, we shall take into consideration the people’s right to stable electricity power in their homes and small business offices as well as boost local production of various goods and services in the state.”

He said his desire to consolidate Ogun State to become an industrial hub of Africa would be propelled by uninterrupted power supply to every home, village and entire business environment.

According to him, everyone will be involved in the development agenda of his administration, through the `Leading Edge Agenda for Economic Prosperity’ for all across the communities in the state.

Oyefeso is the Executive Director, Nigeria Youth in Politics and Chief Executive Officer, Exposure Multimedia Consult.
