APC holds road show for candidates in Lagos

By Kunle SHONUGA

Ahead of the general elections, the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Tuesday staged a road show in Oshodi-Isolo Local Government Area of the state to woo voters for its candidates.

TBI Africa said the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that party leaders, members, candidates and supporters trooped out in large numbers to participate in the show.

They gathered at the Ejigbo mini Stadium from where they started to move round the local government.

While on the road show, participants distributed fliers to intimate residents about the party’s candidates.

The Lagos State Commissioner for Information, Mr Kehinde Bamigbetan, said Feb. 16 and March 2 were days away, and that it was necessary to sentitise the people that the party was the best choice.

“Today, we have a rally and road show. Why did we choose a road show? It is because many residents may not know the candidates within the local government.

“With this road show, we want to parade our candidates.

‘‘We also want to use the opportunity to engage people on the roads and in their homes to let them know that our party is the one to vote for.

“We are making a case for continuity, because we believe that we have used the term of four years to reposition the direction of this country toward sustainable development.

“Many of us have been doing house-house (campaign) before but this is another opportunity to finally show that we are ready for the election.”

Bamigbetan said that APC was confident of winning all the elective posts because the candidates the party was presenting for President, Senate, House of Representatives and House of Assembly had credibility and track records of service to the people.

The House of Representatives’ candidate, Mr Ganiyu Johnson, promised to provide qualitative representation if elected.
