The African Development Bank (AfDB) has expressed joy over the appointment of its Vice President for Power, Energy, Climate and Green Growth Amadou Hott, as a minister in Senegal.

Hott was appointed by President Macky Sall as Senegal’s Minister of Economy, Planning and International Partnerships.

Mr Chawki Chahed, Senior Communications Officer, Communication and External Relations Department of the bank made this known in a statement in Abuja, on Monday.

Chahed quoted the president of the bank, Dr. Akinwumi Adesina as being excited over the appointment of one of their own.

“I am delighted with the announcement of Amadou Hott as a minister.

“He has done a great job as a Vice President at the AfDB, where he has helped to adeptly position and manage our power, energy and climate work, including several innovative and transformative energy projects.

“Amadou has been a great member of the senior leadership group of the bank and has made immense contributions.

“While I will greatly miss him, he certainly will be a great addition to the cabinet of President Sall, to help deliver on his vision for a faster transformation of Senegal.

“I am confident that Amadou will significantly contribute to the advancement of Senegal and strongly deepen the excellent partnership that exists between Senegal and the AfDB,’’ Adesina was quoted as saying in the statement.

TBI Africa said the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Hott joined the African Development Bank in 2016.
