Frankfurt Airport experiences slow pace of passengers

The number of passengers passing through Frankfurt Airport rose in the first quarter compared to 2018, but at a slower pace than in the recent past.

This is according to figures released by operator Fraport on Friday.

Over the first three months, 14.8 million passengers passed through Germany’s largest airport, higher by 2.5 per cent from the same time in 2018.

Figures for 2018 saw a growth of 7.8 per cent, which led to significant capacity problems at the airport terminal.

The number of flights coming in and leaving Frankfurt rose three per cent in the first quarter to almost 117,000, while freight tonnage fell 2.3 per cent to a little over 527,000 tons.

Frankfurt is also Germany’s largest airport for freight traffic.===dpa
