Ajimobi commiserates with Ibadan tanker accident victims’ families

Gov. Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State has commiserated with the families of victims of the Onipepeye fire incident on Iwo Road, Ibadan.

Ajimobi commiserated with them in a statement issued on Thursday by his Special Adviser on Communication and Strategy, Mr Bolaji Tunji.

TBI Africa.com said that the News Agency of Nigeria(NAN) reports that the incident was allegedly triggered by a fuel-laden truck that fell on the road.

Ajimobi described the incident, the cause of which he said was still sketchy, as depressing.

“I received the news of the unfortunate accident with grief and sadness, I am pained that it led to loss of lives and property of innocent citizens.

“I condole with the family and friends of those that died in the incident and I wish those injured speedy recovery, ”he said.

Ajimobi prayed God to grant eternal repose to the souls of those who died in the incident.

“We demand sustained rescue operation at the accident scene to ensure the return of normalcy as soon as possible,” he said.

Meanwhile, the governor has called on vehicle owners in the state to put them in order before use during the festive season.

He urged motorists to drive carefully and adhere to all safety precautions to avert a recurrence of similar unfortunate incident.

“We should always remember our loved ones and have consideration for other roads users while driving,” he said.
