Lebanese army arrests 35 Syrians over illegal entry

(Xinhua/TBI africa.com) Lebanon’s state security arrested 35 Syrians on Tuesday for their illegal entry into Lebanon, local media reported.

Internal security forces arrested the Syrian nationals in the village of Swayri in west Bekaa, according to the National News Agency (NNA).

NNA said that security forces arrested a Syrian national who facilitated the entry of the other 34.

The arrested people were referred to judicial bodies for further investigations and other legal procedures.

The Lebanese government has barred the UN refugee agency from registering Syrian refugees without guarantors, work visas or visas for transit since 2015.

Such measures led to a rise in the number of Syrian refugees attempting to enter Lebanon illegally.
