DPR seals 3 illegal fuel stations in Zamfara

The Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR), has sealed three filling stations in Talata-Mafara and Bungudu local government areas of Zamfara, operating without licence.

The Operations Controller, Gusau DPR Field Office, Alhaji Ango Haruna disclosed this after a routine surveillance patrol in Talata-Mafara on Wednesday.

Ango said the affected filling stations were, Samu Petroleum and Am Dan-wante filling station in Talata-Mafara and Ruwan Zam-Zam Petroleum Limited in Bungudu town.

He said the stations have no operational licence, contrary to DPR rules and regulations.

According to him, the sealed stations also had no Diesel and Kerosine facilities and were found underdispensing.

“Their pumps are also found under supplying, therefore if people buy the commodity from them they would be cheated.

“You know, it is a statutory role of DPR to make sure that all the licenced filling stations operate within the guidelines given by the Federal Government.

“I am sure that the owners of these stations are aware that no filling station would be allowed to operate without licence.

“Therefore we wil not allow them to continue with the business until they secure their licences”, he said.

He appealed to members of the public to always report marketers involved in unlawful operations to the department.
