Presidency queries FIRS boss, Tunde Fowler

By Olamilekan FAWAS

The Presidency is angry with Chairman of Federal Inland Revenue Service(FIRS), Mr. Tunde Fowler. Tunde Fowler was exported from Lagos State, where he made major impact in raising the Internally Generated Revenue(IGR) of the state through the Lagos Internal Revenue Service(LIRS), when he was chairman.

But since he took over at FIRS, his performance has dwindled. He is said to have peformed woefully compared to what was accomplished by his predescessor.

In an internal memo, signed by Chief of Staff, Mr. Abba Kyari, the presidency observed that total collection by FIRS under Tunde Fowler between 2015 and 2017 was worse than what was collected between 2012 and 2014.

For this reason, he is required to prepare a defence. Besides, the Presidency is further infuriated that there were variance between budgeted collection and actual collections between 2015 to 2018.
