Keffi residents observe sanitation, clean environment, commercial centres

Residents of Keffi Local Government area of Nasarawa State, on Saturday, observed the monthly sanitation as directed by the state government by cleaning their environment and commercial centres.

A correspondent, who monitored the exercise in the council area, reports that people were busy cleaning their houses and environment, while shops remained closed.

Alh. Abdulrahman Maigoro, the Chairman of the council, who went round communities in the area, expressed satisfaction with the level of compliance with the exercise by the residents.

He said that this would go a long way in keeping the council area clean, thus improving on the health conditions of the people.

The chairman said that he had inaugurated a 40-man task force that would ensure that residents of the council area adhered strictly to the monthly sanitation exercise.

He urged the people to avoid indiscriminate dumping of refuse in water ways and market places in the interest of their health.

“As you can see, my people adhered strictly to the sanitation exercise by keeping their environment clean. An unclean environment is unhealthy and may cause an outbreak of epidemics.

“It is, therefore, the responsibilities of our people to complement government efforts in the task of maintaining a healthy society,” he said.

Gov. Abdullahi Sule had, on Aug. 3, re-launched the monthly environmental sanitation and promised to reward the cleanest local government area
