Canada-based Nigerian entrepreneur says relocated business to contribute to Nigerian economy

A Canada-based Nigerian entrepreneur, Miss Eboseta Okoyo, on Thursday said she relocated her business to Nigeria as her contribution to the Nigerian economy and also to empower unemployed youths.

Okoyo, who is the Chief Executive Officer of Taeley Events, made the assertion in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos during a demo Enchanted Wedding Forest Styled shoot at a location in Lekki.

The event planner said that Nigeria was becoming big on planning their weddings and other events which prompted her to come back home to contribute her quota.

According to Okoyo, everything event planner should patronise local vendors like entertainers, food vendors, bakers, attires (Aso-ebi) among others to develop the economy and improve livelihoods of the teeming youth.

“I started Taeley Events unofficially about four years ago in Canada, it was registered and I was not getting paid for planning events then but after a while, so many people encouraged me to register as a business and be paid.

“I gave it a thought and decided that I will not run the business in Canada but come back home to contribute my quota to development and that was two years ago.

“I look forward to empowering youths that are not employed because when you contract them to do a job and you pay them, the money remains here and so poverty is defeated and the economy improves.

“I do not see reasons to contract people from outside the country to handle certain aspects during a planned wedding,” she said.

Okoyo said that Nigerian weddings were becoming like concerts and needed proper planning but hoped that in the next five years, event planning would grow bigger than it is now.
