After six-hour grilling, DSS releases ex-CBN gov, Mailafia

A crowd gathered outside the Jos office of the Department of State Services while the former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Dr Obadiah Mailafia, was grilled on Wednesday.

Mailafia was later released a few minutes past 6pm after for six hours.

Mailafia had been invited by the DSS to appear at its office on Wednesday following an interview he granted to a radio station in which he accused a northern governor of being a commander of Boko Haram.

Mailafia arrived at the DSS office located on West of Mines Street around 12:30 pm in an ash-coloured Range Rover vehicle marked Abuja 843 LX.

He was immediately ushered into one of the offices alongside his lawyer, Pius Akubo, SAN, while others who came with him in solidarity were barred from entering the premises.

Those, who were denied entrance, were later joined by placard-carrying protesters who demanded the release of the former CBN deputy governor.
