NDIC spends N1b yearly on projects, says Sokefun

The Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC) spends nothing less than a N1b yearly on community development projects across the country.

Chairman, NDIC Board of Directors, Mrs. Ronke Sokefun, disclosed this yesterday, during the commissioning of a multi-million naira Information Communication Technology centre in her hometown in Ayetoro area of Ogun State.

She noted that the corporation had in the last two years provided developmental projects to over 100 different communities across the country, as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility.

Sokefun, who facilitated the ICT Centre to her alma mata, Comprehensive High School, Ayetoro, said the project was to solve the challenges faced by students on the Yewa axis of the state during Joint Administration Matriculation Board, CBT examination.

The NDIC chairman explained that there was no CBT centre in the axis, and that many students were posted to far distance, so as to participate in the examination.

She said the ICT centre will serve as an accredited JAMB CBT centre and an avenue where students of different secondary schools across the Yewa axis will be groomed on technological oriented programmes.

Ogun Governor, Dapo Abiodun, described the gesture as an initiative in line with the state’s adopt a school programme.

Represented by his Commissioner for Education, Prof. Abayomi Arigbaju, Abiodun commended the NDIC chairman for bringing the project to the state.
