Kwara Assembly to investigate alleged outrageous electricity bills by IBEDC

The Kwara House of Assembly, on Tuesday, directed its Committee on Energy to investigate outrageous electricity bills allegedly being sent to customers by Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC).

The directive was sequel to the assembly’s resolution after adopting a Motion on Notice, entitled: “Need to Overhaul Activities of Electricity Distribution Companies for Effective and Efficient Service Delivery”.

The motion was moved by Abdullahi Danbaba (APC-Kaiama-Kamanje-Wajibe), which was supported by all members at the plenary.

Danbaba, in his submission, expressed displeasure with the outrageous bills which, he said, were being given to electricity consumers in all parts of the state.

The Speaker, Mr Yakubu Danladi, kicked against what he called the excessive billing of electricity consumers without commensurate energy supply.

Danladi, therefore, directed the committee to properly investigate the matter and report back to the House within two weeks.
