EFCC grills Prisons ex-CG for ‘shady’ deal

A former Controller General of Prisons, Dr. Peter Ezenwa Ekpendu, is currently being quizzed by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in a case of alleged procurement fraud and diversion of public funds.

The ex-CG, who arrived the headquarters of the commission at about 10:00am yesterday, sources said, responded to the agency’s invitation.

Though details of the case were sketchy as at press time, sources close to the EFCC said four companies, belonging to him, were allegedly fingered in suspicious payments in respect of contracts executed for the correctional service.

Spokesman of the commission, Wilson Uwujaren, confirmed the summons
