FEC condoles with the family of Lt.-Gen. Attahiru, others

The Federal Executive Council (FEC) has condoled with the family of late Lt.-Gen. Ibrahim Attahiru and other military officers, who died in the Friday fatal air crash in Kaduna.

Mr Boss Mustapha, Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), conveyed the condolence message on behalf of the FEC on Saturday in Abuja.

Mustapha, in a statement issued by Mr Willie Bassey, Director of Information, office of the SGF, expressed grief over the loss.

He said that members of FEC received with deep shock, the news of the fatal air crash that claimed the lives of the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt.-Gen. Ibrahim Attahiru.

“FEC also condoles with ten other senior military officers and service member, on the incident that occurred in Kaduna on Friday  May 21st.

The SGF expressed the consensus of all members of the FEC on the passion, professionalism with which Gen. Attahiru discharged.

He noted the roles he played in the responsibilities of his office especially the prosecution of internal security operations across the country since his appointment in January.

Mustapha also conveyed the condolences of members of the FEC to President Muhammadu Buhari,  members of the defense and security forces as well as government and people of Kaduna State.

Particularly, the SGF commiserated with families of the departed heroes and prayed to God to grant them comfort and peace of mind at this trying times.

TBI Africa recalls that the COAS was en route to Kaduna from Abuja on Friday, May 21 when the unfortunate incident happened.

The remains of the Chief of Army Staff, Lt-Gen. Ibrahim Attahiru and 10 others who died in the plane crash were on Saturday laid to rest with full military honour amidst tears and anguish at the military cemetery Abuja.
