The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) says Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), petrol, was costlier in Adamawa, Kwara and Plateau in July.
The NBS said this in its “Premium Motor Spirit (Petrol) Price Watch for July 2021’’ released on its website on Thursday in Abuja.
It said Adamawa’s residents paid N173.67, while residents of Kwara paid N170.40 for the product and in Plateau, residents paid N170.40.
It, however, said that residents of Taraba paid N162.25, Gombe; N163.17 and Niger; N163.71, the lowest average prices for the product.
According to the NBS, the average price paid by consumers for petrol increased by 15.51 per cent year-on-year and decreased month-on-month by 0.18 per cent to N165.91 in July from N165.61 recorded in June.
Similarly, average price paid by consumers for Automotive Gas Oil otherwise known as diesel increased 3.46 per cent month-on-month and by 11.76 per cent year-on-year to N250.82 in July from N242.43 in June.
The bureau said states with the highest average price of diesel were Borno at N264.18, Adamawa N261 and Abia N260.
However, states with the lowest average price of diesel were Plateau at N230, Anambra N233.67 and Kogi N234.17.
The NBS said in arriving at the report, field work was done solely by more than 700 of its staff in all states of the federation supported by supervisors who were monitored by internal and external observers.
Fuel prices were collected across all the 774 local governments across all states and the FCT from over 10,000 respondents and locations, it said.
It added that the price reflected actual prices households bought fuel together with the prices reportedly sold by the fuel suppliers.
