Edun tasks female accountants on leadership, capacity building 

Mrs. Yemisi Edun, a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria and the Managing Director of First City Monument Bank (FCMB) has called on professional accounting bodies to take leadership development programmes for female accountants seriously.

She said this during the inauguration of Mrs.  Catherine Nnaji as the 10th President of the Society of Women Accountants of Nigeria (SWAN) and the swearing in of the new executive in Lagos State.

“ICAN encourages professionalism in accountancy in Nigeria while SWAN is a national body established to serve female accountants of ICAN. Therefore, Edun urges SWAN and ICAN to provide avenue for female accountants to train and take up senior leadership roles,” She stressed.

Edu commended SWAN for uniting and empowering female accountants.

In his speach, the Governor of Abia State, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, urged  the women to scale for leadership positions, adding that women who are in SWAN can be of benefit to humanity and the country.

He advised that women said that should be involved in governance.
