Independence: Don urges restructuring of Nigeria

A University of Lagos Lecturer and Public Affairs analyst, Dr Adetokunbo Pearse, has urged speedy amendment to the 1999 Constitution and true federalism to accelerate national development.

Pearse, also a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos State, made this assertion in a statement in Lagos on Thursday.

He was assessing the country, 61years after Independence.

The don said that Nigeria faced  serious challenges today because of the unitary constitution bequeathed on the nation by the military.

“Until we restructure the system along the recommendations of the 2014 Confab , amending the 1999 Constitution, Nigeria will continue to bleed,” he said.
