Marketers restate resolve to fight vandals

ASSOCIATION of Nigerian Refineries Petroleum Marketers (ANRPM) has restated its commitment to the war against vandals.

The association spoke in Bayelsa as it inaugurated its executives in Yenagoa, the state capital

ANRPM said the group would fight oil theft, pipelines vandalism, illegal bunkering, products adulteration and others in the state and Nigeria.

The group’s National Task Force Team, led by its Chairman, Eshanekpe Israel a.k.a Akpodoro, visited the Commissioner of Police Ben Okolo, with the new executives.

State Chairman of the anti vandals association Tuaweri Izuongiowei noted that the state chapter would ensure a smooth administration and  the operational convenience of ANRPM, under the national presidency of Ashiga Wada.

Akpodoro explained that the group was established to stop corruption among product marketers who, he noted, were complicit in most crimes in the petroleum industry.

The chairman, a notable ex-militant leader, said having been involved in the security of Niger Delta since the Federal Government’s Amnesty Programme, said from his experience of crime in the industry, oil marketers were the bane of the oil and gas business.

He said having led the Surveillance and Enforcement  Team of Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), he was well informed about the nefarious activities of marketers.

Akpodoro called on the people to give information to enable the task force frustrate illicit oil business in the area.

He noted that the Bayelsa State chapter came behind Imo and Delta states, saying the association would go round the states to inaugurate its executives.

The chairman warned the new executives to ensure that every criminal was brought to justice, saying the group had no tolerance for any shortcoming from its personnel.

The police chief pledged to cooperate with the task force to wage war against crimes and criminalities in the downstream oil sector of the industry.
