EFCC arrests Enugu PDP women leader Vera Ezeugwu for alleged fraud

Operatives of Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, (EFCC) have arrested the Enugu state women leader of the People’s Democratic party, PDP, Mrs. Vera Ezeugwu for alleged fraud.

Mrs. Ezugwu was arrested by Operatives of EFCC from Benin Zonal Office with assistance from Enugu Office of the anti-graft agency over alleged connivance with her husband, Tony Ezeugwu to defraud one Lady Dr. Lora Marire to the tune of eleven million naira.

According to Daily Gazette, Tony Ezeugwu has been on the run since 6th of October, 2021 and none of his four mobile numbers were going.

The report noted that Mr. Tony Ezeugwu, husband of the State PDP women leader who claimed to be a federal contractor, lured one Lady (Dr) Lora Marire to paying the sum of Eleven million naira into “UKKA Global Partners Limited” account domiciled in UBA under the pretence that he has a contract from the government of Akwa-Ibom state which according to him was attracted by one Senator Anietie Okon and would yield Eighty five million naira at the completion of the contract which was for the period of one month.

The report further stated that the suspect was arrested at about 5am today in her Enugu residence following credible intelligence reports about her intention to relocate with her family.

According to the victim of the scam who is also an Enugu based contractor, Lady Lora Marire, several efforts made to have her money refunded was futile as she continued to receive threats from the Ezeugwus.
