Aviation stakeholders to discuss in Lagos on effects of sunset airports

Major stakeholders in the aviation industry are converging on Lagos on Thursday to discuss the economy implications of sunsets airport in the country.

The Secretary, Conference Committee of the League of Aviation and Airports Correspondents (LAAC) Mr Albinus Chiedu made this known in Lagos on Wednesday.

The Business Intelligence (TBI Africa) reports that the event is the annual conference of the League of Airport and Aviation Correspondents (LAAC) will be held this Thursday.

Chiedu said the discussions would centre on solutions to the multiple challenges faced by stakeholders in terms of safety and economics as a result of operating sunset airports in the country.

He noted that the Minister of Aviation, Sen. Hadi Sirika would be the special guest of honour while the Chairman, Finchglow Holdings, Mr Bankole Bernard would function as the Chairman of the occasion.

According to him, the National Assembly Committees Chairmen, Sen. Smart Adeyemi, and Rep. Nnolim Nnaji, and other doyens of the nation’s aviation industry would attend the event.

“Heads of aviation agencies, airline operators, aviation related stakeholders among others are to grace the event.

“The event is expected to attract over 250 aviation industry professionals cutting across the aviation agencies, security agencies.

“Others are the international and domestic airlines operating in Nigeria, aviation support services, travel trade sellers and buyers and other stakeholders,” he said.
