The Inspector-General of Police, Usman Baba, was in Lagos on Friday, for the inauguration of projects completed and equipment acquired under his watch.

Among the equipment were five operational gunboats acquired for patrols and response to emergencies on internal waterways.

The Force spokesperson, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, revealed this in a statement on Friday.

According to the statement, the IG was joined by the Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Awwal Gambo, at the Police Marine Office, Victoria Island, Lagos, where the gunboats were unveiled.

“The IGP assured of the continuous commitment of his administration to upgrading the operational assets of the NPF while he emphasised the importance of dedicated synergy to successfully stamping out crimes and criminality in the country,” the statement said.

The statement added that the IG was also billed to inaugurate a new ultra-modern Commandants’ Quarters in the Police College, Ikeja.
