Seven-storey building collapses in Lagos

Tragedy struck in Banana Island area of Ikoyi Lagos Wednesday as a seven-floor building under construction collapsed, The Business Intelligence Africa (TBI Africa) has learnt.
According to the Deputy Director, Physical Planning and Urban Development, Lagos State, Mukaila Sanusi, who confirmed the incident, the collapsed building was “unapproved”.
Sanusi said that few people who sustained injuries are being treated.
“There is no fatality. This unfortunate incident happened while casting was being done,” he stated.
The Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Engr. Tayo Bamgbose-Martins was immediately on site to assess the situation and flag- off investigation.
Coordinator, National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), South West, Ibrahim Farinloye also confirmed the incident which happened this evening.
He said emergency responders are currently at the scene.
