Tinubu returns NEMA, NAHCON to Vice President’s office, approves aides for him

President Bola Tinubu has approved the return of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) to the Office of the Vice President for supervision, in compliance with their various establishment Acts. A statement signed by Olusola Abiola, Director of Information in the Office of the Vice President, on Tuesday, which announced the development, added that the President has also approved a formal structure for the Office of the Vice President as well as an appropriate number of technical and administrative aides that will work with the Vice President in the discharge of his responsibilities.
LEADERSHIP recalls that both NEMA and NAHCON were removed from the supervision of the Office of Vice President by the immediate-past administration of President Muhammadu Buhari, against extant laws.
While NAHCON was reporting to the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs, NEMA was made an agency under supervision of the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development when the Ministry was created by the Buhari government in 2019.
