Bauchi to represent Nigeria at schools debate in Malaysia

Governor Bala Mohammad of Bauchi State has approved N42 million to the Bauchi State contingent that will represent the country at the Nigeria – Malaysia Bilateral School Debate Championship taking place from 15th to 21 July, 2024 in Malaysia.
The Bauchi State contingent qualified to represent Nigeria by defeating Ogun State at the final stage held in Abuja.
A statement by Bauchi State Universal Basic Education Board stated that Governor Mohammed also granted the five winners of the championship a free education scholarship up to the university level.
The statement signed by SUBEB’s public relations officer, Mallam Muhammad Abdullahi expressed the state government’s commitment to rewarding performing students who make the state proud.
The governor urged the Nigeria contingent to ensure they bring success to the country.
He also appealed to the federal government to begin sponsoring students who qualify at the national level in inter-basic school debate championships, not leaving it for states, saying they are representing the country as a whole.
