Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested a 47-year-old man, Emmanuel Chukwuma, for allegedly stabbing his 45-year-old girlfriend, Bosede Adefehinti to death in the FESTAC area of Lagos.
The tragic incident was said to have occurred in the residence where the lovers both shared at 7th Avenue, FESTAC axis of the state.
Lagos Command’s Spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin confirmed the arrest, disclosing that Emmanuel hid in the well before he was arrested by the police.
“Our detectives and a patrol team visited the scene of the crime, and the suspect was arrested from the well where he hid,” Hundeyin said.
Meanwhile, information gathered revealed that the two lovers were known for engaging in squabbles in the neighbourhood prior to the unfortunate incident that led to her death.
A source who would not want to be named remarked, “The incident happened around 2:30 pm yesterday, he tried to kill himself by jumping in the well but we prevented him before the police came to arrest him.”
While tracing the problem to low self-esteem or complex issues, the source said the late Bosede was a local herbs seller while Emmanuel who is unemployed was assisting his lover in selling herbs at her stand.
“Sometimes, she’s not here and he will be the one to attend to sales and this could be a problem when a woman leaves with no traces,” the source said.
