The Board of Trustees of the Nigerian Institution of Petroleum Engineers (NiPeTE) has unanimously reaffirmed its vote of confidence in the leadership of its National Chairman, Engr. Prisca Kanebi.
In a communiqué issued on Monday after the institute Board meeting and signed by the Chairman of the Board, Prof. Michael Onyekonwu, the board praised Kanebi for her unwavering dedication, focus, and commitment to advancing the institution’s objectives and contributing to the growth of Nigeria’s oil and gas sector.
Prof. Onyekonwu highlighted Kanebi’s tireless efforts in promoting best practices, innovation, and sustainable development within the industry, stating that her impact has been both significant and commendable.
“Under her stewardship, NiPeTE has recorded major milestones. The Board is confident that her visionary leadership will continue to propel the institution to even greater heights,” he said.
“In light of her impressive track record and the positive impact of her tenure, the Board of Trustees, alongside Fellows and members of NiPeTE, wholeheartedly endorses her re-election for another term,” Onyekonwu added.
He urged all members to support Engr. Kanebi, affirming her ability to lead the association into a more progressive future.
Onyekonwu emphasized that the electoral process was transparent, fair, and conducted in line with NiPeTE’s governing framework, upholding the principles of accountability and integrity.
“The re-election of Engr. Kanebi strictly followed NiPeTE’s electoral guidelines and was fully endorsed by the institution’s members. Any claims suggesting otherwise are inaccurate and baseless,” he clarified.
Expressing concern over the circulation of misleading information about the election, he urged the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) to refrain from spreading unfounded allegations that could damage the institution’s credibility.
“It is crucial that we work collaboratively to uphold the integrity of the engineering profession, rather than engage in divisive rhetoric that undermines the contributions of the petroleum engineering community,” he said.
Prof. Onyekonwu concluded by reiterating the board’s strong support for Engr. Kanebi, acknowledging her valuable contributions to the nation’s oil and gas industry.
He also confirmed that during its meeting on Saturday, April 12, the NiPeTE Governing Council reaffirmed its confidence in her leadership with an official vote of confidence.
The board also emphasis that the general public and the entire engineering community and oil and gas industry should be guided accordingly from any group of persons maliciously trying to undermine the Institution as well as hijack it for their personal gains
