The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission is set to deploy members of the Nigerian Youth Service Corps to sensitise electricity consumers to their rights and duties.

This was as the commission announced the establishment of an NYSC Community Development Service Group for serving corps members.

Announcing the development on its social media handles, the NERC said it entered into a partnership with the NYSC.

The aim was to improve corps members’ knowledge of the sector and allow them to contribute positively to the development of their host communities.

“The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission has established an NYSC CDS group for serving Corp members. To further deepen Customer enlightenment across the country, the commission entered into a partnership with the National Youth Service Corps and has established the NERC/NYSC community development service group.

“This will improve their knowledge on the sector and provide a platform for Corp members to educate their communities on the rights and duties of electricity customers.

“The initiative will enable Corp members to contribute positively to the development of their host communities,” the commission said.
