Shell wins six awards at 2023 Nigeria International Energy Summit

Nigeria’s energy giant, Shell, won six of the coveted prizes at the awards ceremony of the ongoing 6th Nigeria International Energy Summit (NIES) which took place at the State House Banquet Hall, Abuja, confirming the energy company’s leading position in Nigeria’s energy industry.
In a statement by Media Relations Manager, Abimbola Essien-Nelson, “To crown off the spectacular evening for Shell, Mr. Osagie Okunbor, Country Chair, Shell companies in Nigeria and Managing Director, the Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria Limited (SPDC), emerged as the NIES “Energy Personality of the Year 2022.” According to the organisers, Mr. Okunbor is an inspiration to many and a champion of the oil and gas industry that has consistently demonstrated thought-leadership and the award is in recognition of these attributes.
An elated Okunbor expressed gratitude to the Industry and event organisers, “I am immensely grateful for the recognition and honour.”
Other awards won are “Upstream Company of the Year 2022” (SPDC); “Best Offshore Oil & Gas Development Facilities Company” (SPDC); “Best Exhibitor 2022” (SPDC); “Best Gender Support Company in the Energy Space” (SPDC); and “African Oil & Gas Policy Advocate & Shaper of the Year” (Mr. Ed Ubong, Managing Director, Shell Nigeria Gas).
Okunbor said, “We are very pleased to win these excellence awards as they are recognition of Shell’s deliberate strategy to power progress for Nigeria and Nigerians.”
He said Shell companies in Nigeria are further challenged to be relentless in making significant contributions to the industry and towards the socio- economic development of Nigeria.
