FG, Kanu engage new lawyers in ongoing trial

The federal government has engaged the services of a legal luminary, Chief Adegboyega Awomolo, SAN, to lead its legal team in the prosecution of the case against Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB)
Awomolo takes over from David Kaswe, a senior lawyer from the Federal Ministry of Justice, who had been handling the case for the federal government.
In the same vein, the defendant, Nnamdi Kanu, charged with terrorism offences by the Federal Government, has engaged new lawyers for his defence.
Kanu’s trial is expected to resume at the Federal High Court in Abuja this Monday.
The leader of the outlawed IPOB, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, has kick-started a fresh battle for his bail in the terrorism charges brought against him by the federal government.
The motion for bail dated February 5, 2024, is being handled by Alloy Ekimakor on behalf of Kanu.
