Long queues being witnessed at fuel retail outlets in Lagos and some parts of Ogun State will soon disappear as marketers have begun to lift petrol at depots in Apapa and others
The Business Intelligence Africa (TBI Africa) survey of depots in Lagos on Friday showed that most of the depots currently have products and marketers have started to lift fuel.
At a depot in Apapa, our correspondent was told that there were supply and distribution hitches which have been addressed. The depot operator noted that actually there wasn’t scarcity of products. According to him whenever there is a little supply hitch like what we just experienced, it takes few days for supply and distribution to normalise. But I must tell you there was no scarcity and there is nothing to be bothered about. Between Sunday and Tuesday next week, motorists will drive in, buy and go from any fuel station, he reassured.
Queues started resurfacing gradually at filling stations in Lagos from Easter Monday and by Friday, it has become so bad that even fuel hawkers were seen in front of filling stations at Ojodu, Berger, Ikorodu Road, among others, hawking petrol in 10-litre containers at a premium as queues were so long. Motorists who cannot queue usually buy from the hawkers.
