NGC inaugurates, hands over health facility to Delta community

 The Nigerian Gas Company (NGC) has inaugurated and handed over a fully equipped Basic Health Centre to Ijomi community in Ethiope West Local Government Area of Delta.

The Managing Director, NGC, Mr Babatunde Bakare, at the ceremony on Thursday said the project was a token of their appreciation to the peace loving community.

Bakare, who was represented by the Executive Director, Asset Management, NGC, Mr Ibrahim Yusuf, said the company would continue to identify with communities that promote peace and also embrace dialogue in resolving differences.

TBI Africa said the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that NGC is a subsidiary of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) with pipelines transversing over 300 host communities and network of gas pipelines spanning over 2,500km in Nigeria.

According to him, NGC remains committed to developing a robust and sustainable relationship with its host communities as part of our Corporate Social Responsibility thrust.

“As a company, we shall continue to solicit for your cooperation and assistance in the maintenance of peace and support for our business growth aspiration.

“I appeal to the community to safeguard the NGC facilities by putting in place adequate measures to enable the people participate and benefit fully from it,” he said.

Bakare thanked the Delta Government for creating a business friendly environment for the company to thrive.

The NGC boss also thanked the Ovie of Oghara Kingdom, Ogharaname, Orefe III, and the entire Ijomi Community for their valuable contribution and cooperation in the protection of NGC facilities.

“As a gas Transportation Company with a vision to support the economic growth of Nigeria, our network of gas pipelines extend to over 2,500km.

“Our metering stations are located in 11 states of the federation including Delta.

“What this indicates is that our pipelines transverse over 300 host communities across diverse areas of the country where our facilities exist,” Bakare said.

Speaking on behalf of the community, Mr Frank Edede, also thanked NGC for the gesture, giving assurance that the project would be properly maintained.

He, however, appealed for more of such gestures for the community and others in the environs.
