Aviation expert advocates a strong competitive national carrier in 2022

An Aviation expert, Dr Gbenga Olowo, has advocated for a strong and globally competitive Nigerian flag carriers in 2022.

Olowo, the President of the Aviation Roundtable Initiative(ART), made the call in an interview in Lagos on Monday.

He noted that the national carrier agenda by the current government could be achieved if it was given all necessary attention.

Olowo said the weight thrown by the government on Air Peace/Emirate commercial negotiations in UAE disagreement, was a confirmation that Nigeria already endorsed that flag Carrier by throwing its weight behind them.

He said: “I am trusting that the same steam will be deployed to sanitise all the routes which posts negative trade balance to Nigeria vis a vis Bilateral Air Service Agreement (BASAs) till date.

“Government should go its full hug to all destination served by all countries hitherto in preparation for additional one or two more Nigerian flag carriers.”

Olowo said that one should positively expect with great hopes that the Omnicron variant would not metamorphose into another variant or any other plague, in a way that would impact life so negatively like COVID-19.

He also urged the government to continue to address issues of insecurity and its adverse effects on the country risk assessment.

The ART president said the country risk speaks volume on economic index measurement such as the exchange rates, insurance premiums, pricing and inflation, among others.
