LG boss appeals to FG to deploy additional security for IDPs to return to Ussa,Taraba

By Kunle SHONUGA

Chairman of Ussa Local Government Area of Taraba, Mr Rimansikwe Karma, has appealed to the federal government to urgently deploy additional security to the area to enable the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) return home.

Karma made the call in Ussa on Sunday, during at an interactive session with newsmen.

He stated that most IDPs from the communities in the local government area were afraid to return to their homes over fear of another possible attack.

The chairman alleged that the attackers have adopted a “guerrilla warfare strategy”, and one could not predict when they would attack.

He appealed to the security agencies to adopt strategies that would deal with the situation and allow people go back to their farms.

“The security agencies deployed here are trying their best, I must commend them, but I want them to come out with strategies to enable IDPs especially from Tutuwa community to go back to their homes.

“I know they cannot be everywhere, but they can do something to give the people confidence to go back to their homes. The rains are here and the people cannot go back to farm for fear of attacks,’’ he said.

He commended officers of the joint security task force made up of the Army, Police, Navy and DSS who are conducting joint security operations in the area for their professional conduct.
