Trust remains crucial in e-payment, says Diamond Bank CEO

The Managing Director of Diamond Bank,  Mr Uzoma Dozie, says trust remains an important factor for  acceptability of any electronic banking solution.

Dozie told newsmen on Saturday in Lagos that whenever trust was breached,  the consequences could be severe.

According to him, customers will not trust a system they don’t understand.

He decried the slow pace in ensuring that everybody in the country had a unique identity number.

This, he said, had been hindering the growth of financial inclusion in the country.

According to Dozie, Diamond Bank is a digital company and not just a bank.

“We understand that we cannot provide all the services and so, we are always willing to partner with people who can provide those services,” he said.

Dozie said the bank, through its Beta Savings Account product, had taken banking to rural communities.

He said that this had brought in those previously excluded into the financial system.

The bank executive said that the bank’s BETA Savings account was safe and convenient and this had encouraged customers to save towards their goal consistently on a daily basis.

“It is mainly targeted at market entrepreneurs/traders, especially women who save regularly, leveraging on the services of “Alaajo” and “Esusu” programmes,” he added.
