Politician urges govt to strengthen industrial sector

A politician, Chief Charles Nwodo, has urged the Federal Government to strengthen the industrial sector to attract more foreign investments to grow the economy.

Nwodo, a former National Chairman of the defunct Progressive Action Congress (PAC), gave the advice in Abuja on Tuesday.
According to him, such step will boost the efforts of the Federal Government to create more jobs for the youth.
“Areas I strongly believe will increase foreign investment in the country are agriculture, the textile industry, mining, among others,” he said.
Nwodo further called on the government to intensify efforts in ensuring good governance and building lasting democratic principles, rooted in the rule of law toward delivering democracy dividends to the people.
The politician advocated a much workable economic restructuring model that would enable the country to compete favourably with its peers in the international community.
On security, Nwodo commended the Federal Government for its effort to eradicate Boko Haram insurgency, but stressed the need to the strengthen security outfits to enable them to confront security challenges that the country was facing.
“If the security apparatus are further strengthened, I have no doubt that the present security challenges facing the country will be effectively and efficiently tackled.
“It will also enable the security agents to be more proactive and foresee any danger ahead and curtail it before it happens.”
