Border crossing between Syria and Jordan reopens after 3 years

By Aliyu DANLADI

A vital border crossing between Syria and Jordan officially reopened on Monday, three years after it was closed, official sources at the crossing said.

Nassib is a strategic crossing for Syria and Jordan, constituting the main gateway for both countries to the oil-rich Gulf countries.

The source said there had yet been no movement across the border.

The Nassib crossing was closed in 2015 when rebels seized control of it.

The Syrian army recaptured it in July, as it made gains across the country with the help of its Russian and Iranian allies.
