The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) on Thursday said it would soon commence a training for 1,150 youths and women on different vocational skills in Kaduna.
Acting state NDE Coordinator, Sani Maiwada, who made the disclosure during a press briefing explained that the trainees would also receive N5,000 monthly stipend throughout the duration of the training.
He added that 300 youths out of the total number of the trainees had been selected from the three senatorial districts of the state and would commence the training on Monday.
“The 300 youths will undergo training at the three skill acquisition centres of NDE located at Zaria, Kaduna and Kachia with each center training 100 youths.
“They will be trained on five skills which include electrical installation, carpentry, tailoring, hair-dressing and phone repairs for a duration of three months, ” he said.
Maiwada said that 700 women would undergo training on cosmetology for two weeks adding that they would also be given a starter pack after the training.
The Coordinator added that 50 participants would be recruited under the directorate’s mobile training workshop which takes skill acquisition to rural areas not having NDE skill centres.
He explained that 100 women, who had earlier received training on cosmetology by the NDE would be given a starter pack of all the items needed for production so as to enable them set up their businesses.
It would be recalled that NDE had trained 100 women on cosmetology in May 2018.
